London; Secker and Warburg, 1968., 1968. Hard Cover. First Edition Thus. Octavo, 4 volumes (pp. xxiii, [1], 574; xv, [1], 477, [1]; xv, [1], 435, [1]; xvii, [1], 555, [1]. Frontispiece to each volume. Midnight blue cloth with gilt spine titles, in original publishers' scarlet dust-jackets. Some very slight sunning to spine of unclipped (50s net) dust-jackets and minor foxing to fore-edges. With a printed bookplate of a circular serpent to the ffep. Bright, tight, and free of annotations. Overall Very Good in Very Good. First edition, first impressionof the complete set of Orwell's collected prose from 1920 to his death in 1950. Voted the second most influential British Post-War writer by the Times, Orwell's fictional and essayistic contributions to twentieth century thought are difficult to overestimate. The collection is edited by Orwell's wife, and archivist of the Orwell Archive, Sonia Orwell.
