Synopsis
Charles Olson (1910 – 1970) was an American modernist poet. He actively pursued a poetic meter based on the breath of the poet, and an open construction based on sound and the linking of perceptions rather than syntax and logic. Olson coined the term "postmodern" in a letter of 1949 to a friend and fellow poet.
