His work has helped Russian literature to expand in the West. His most renowned novel is Father and Son, which is regarded as one of the major nineteenth century fiction, and his collection of short stories was innovative for Russian realism.Complete in ten volumes. In burgundy cloth binding, with paper covered boards and marbled edges, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally very attractive, with minor shelfwear only. Spine has slightly faded. Internally, binding is generally firm throughout, with the occasional loose page to volume V. Minor faint spotting to first and last few leaves, otherwise pages are generally clean throughout.
