Various, 1955. A collection of 47 original offprints and papers by the late botanist and plant ecologist Michael Charles Faraday Proctor, spanning the period 1955 to 2009, titles and details listed below, all in very good condition. This collection represents a sizeable portion of Proctor's academic output. Proctor was author or joint author of around 150 research papers and books, and was regarded as one of Britain's pre-eminent plant ecologists. In 1968 he revised and updated Arthur Tansley's book 'Britain's Green Mantle'. He was a contributing author to all of the five volumes of the definitive work on British Plant Communities, edited by J.Rodwell (1991-2000), and also wrote three books in the New Naturalist Series: two on pollination, and one on the vegetation of Britain and Ireland. The papers/off-prints included in this collection are; - 1) 1955. Some chromosome counts in the European Cistaceae. Watsonia 3 (pt. 3): 154. [Offprint.] 2) 1957. Variation on Helianthemum canum (L.)
