New York, NY: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1900. First of this edition. Hardcover. Good. Illustrated edition . Signed by Other. Putnam's (circa 1900). The New Sunnyside edition, limited to 250 numbered copies and signed by the publisher. This is set #122. Black and white illustrations from multiple illustrators with tissue guards. 40 volumes complete. 3/4 green morocco, sunned to brown on the spine (as usual). Light wear at head heel and corners, but not chipping. Blue green linen boards and marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A few boards weak, but attached. Else a good+ set of a most collectible edition. Irving was one of the first American writers to earn acclaim in Europe, and he encouraged other American authors such as Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Herman Melville and Edgar Allan Poe. The set is named for Irving's "Sunnyside" homestead on the Hudson River in Tarrytown, NY. Not available for priority/expedited shipping.
