About This Item

London: University of London. As New. 1986. First Edition (?). Soft Cover. B&W Photographs; 11 3/4 x 8 1/4; 60 pages; Oblong shaped soft cover is burgundy. Light bumpng, rubbing to covers. Pages are clean and tight. Appears as if never used, just moved about on the shelf a bit. Illustrated with 100+ b/w photographs of college life and the buildings. Each page covers one topic. In 1985, Bedford College [f. 1849] Merged with Royal Holloway College [f. 1900], another college of the University of London which, like Bedford College, had been a college for women only when it was first founded. The merged institution took Royal Holloway College's premises in Egham, Surrey, just outside London, as its main campus and took on the name of Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (RHBNC). Both were part of the University of London advanced educational complex. Great glimpse into a history of women's college educational opportunities. .
