[s.i.]: [s.n.], [s.d., 1843?] Brown card with embossed ornamental border, white, gilt-edged, card onlay decorated with a depiction of Nelsonâs final flag semaphore signal. Manuscript inscription to verso: 'Presented to the Naval Committee at the Trafalgar Hotel, with Mr. P. Scott's best compliments. Norwich. Oct. 21st, 1843'. A Victorian commemorative card celebrating the victory of the Royal Navy at Trafalgar on 21st October, 1805, featuring a stylised representation of Nelsonâs famous final flag semaphore signal: 'England expects every man will do his duty', which originally adorned the title page of the second volume of Joseph Allen's Battles of the British Navy (London, 1842). . Dimensions 230 x 90 mm.
