Roger Manley was an English military officer from the 17th-century who is chiefly remembered for his historical accounts of the English Civil War and British rebellions in the 1640s. His most well-known book was his 'History of the Rebellion' in which he describes the events taking place against the House of Stuart until the execution of the Duke of Monmouth in 1685. This book is one of the most thorough and detailed first-hand accounts of the events leading to the Monmouth Rebellion and division between Protestants and Catholics in 17th-century Great Britain.
