Light rubbing along the edges of the boards; spine leather dry and starting to flake, with shallow loss at the spine ends; stain to front board of the second volume. Sound bindings. Unmarked text, with only occasional minor browning. Armorial bookplate of the former owner, George Gowan, affixed to the front pastedown of both volumes; ink signature of two other former owners on title page of the first volume. 2 volume set.
