About This Item
New York: The America Press, 1939. An expose of the "lift the embargo" movement, which the author contends was organized by six Communist Front organizations: Lawyers Committee on American Relations with Spain, Friends of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, Confederated Spanish Societies, American Friends of Spanish Democracy, American League for Peace and Democracy and North American Committee to Aid Spanish Democracy. Hinkel provides profiles of each of the organizations, including information on some of their high profile members. Published by the Catholic America Press, Hinkel, a Colonel and veteran newspaperman, was later affiliated with Notre Dame. Later reprinted in 1980 by the Harvard College Library.
