About This Item

New York: Robert B. Collins, 1850. Octavo. 10pp. publisher's ads, (blank) frontispiece, vi, 284pp., The first edition was published in 1839. Since the publishing of the stereotype edition, several new and interesting discoveries had been added to astronomy which you will find in the supplement which was added at the end of the book, pages 277-284. This work is not only about the stars and the moon but also the seasons and why they change, gravitation, lunar geography, eclipses, tides, comets and more. Bound in 1/4 black leather over brown cloth, spine lettering gilt, a few small stains to outer margins of last few leaves not extending to text, some corner wear, lacks one front endpaper. Very good.
