London: George Allen and Unwin, 1902. 39 Volumes of the Definitive Edition of John Ruskin's Works. The edition consisted of 2062 sets, of which 2000 were available for sale to subscribers. Published between 1903- 1912. Incredibly, there are 37 books with Dust Jackets. Mostly they are excellent, but some with small repairs, short tears, abrasions, but they remain very presentable. The books too, in the main are near fine. Some pages uncut, which further reflects the excellent condition. To obtain a fuller description, please contact me. I will add representative images soon after listing. The Books: The Library Edition of the Works of John Ruskin, is one of the greatest works in the history of editing. The editor was Sir Edward Tyas Cook, one of this country's great but unsung men of letters, who made his mark in journalism as editor of the Pall Mall Gazette, the Westminster Gazette, and the Daily News. His assistant in the edition was Alexander Wedderburn, a former pupil of Ruskin's at Oxford. Volumes: frontis (some colour) illustrations, plates (some colour, part mounted) portraits, plans, facsimiles (some folded) diagrams; Ruskin's coat of arms in gilt on front cover. Each volume also has a special title page.
