LONDON: THE NONESUCH PRESS. 2nd impression(November 1940) of this collected work, which was first published in November 1939. 1165 pages. Black and white illustrations by John Tenniel. Red illustrated Dust jacket which is very worn particularly on DJ edges 1.5 inch tear from top of DJ spine edge. Several smaller nicks and tears in the same area. Small nicks and tears at bottom of DJ spine and DJ Cover edges generally. Very little of the DJ is actually missing however. Red cloth boards, which have slight wear on edges. There is a 9 cm split on the pastedown(on the reverse of the front board) exposing underlying spine binding. The binding remains strong however. There is a partial printed address on bottom of front pastedown. Pages 1161-1165(Index of First Lines of Verse) and back endpapers have tears and/or pieces missing from the side edge of the book's pages. No text is affected. No other pages have tears and all are securely bound. Slight foxing on some pages. Otherwise clean pages. No inscriptions. Original price of 20 Shillings on DJ(printed as 20S) has not been clipped. . Good. Hardcover. 2nd IMPRESSION. 1940.
