London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1892. Hardback. 135pp. White paper spine over dark green paper covered boards. Yapped leading edges to boards. Top edge gilt. No jacket. Tissue guard to frontispiece. Drawings of cats scattered through the book. The selection of poems is divided into three categories:- The Cats of Many Writers (32 poems); The Children's Cats (4 poems); Some French Cats (11 poems). Book in good condition. Spine discoloured. Boards generally rubbed and soiled. A little wear to corners and lower edges. Yapped edges have a couple of nicks and that to the upper board has separated over about 1cm at the lower corner. Printed ex libris plate to front paste down and an ownership inscription to fly leaf. Free endpapers toned. A few cracks at gutter but text block holding together well. A few poems have an ink cross against them. Some pages appear to have been trimmed short and have been neatly extended at the top edge to create a consistently flat surface for the top edge gilt. Internally free of spotting but there is some sporadic light soiling.
