This copy signed by the previous owner, Eliphaz Chapman Jr. of one of the founding families of Bethel Maine. Collection of Austin's anti-Federalist newspaper contributions. The publication of this volume was followed shortly by Austin's appointment by Jefferson to the post of commissioner of loans. "Austin was essentially a conservative always opposing local improvement and changes. He liked the political vintage of 1775 too well to accept the new wine of Federalism" - DAB. Sabin 2395.
