Hagae-Comitum (Den Haag),: Alex. Johnson,, 1743.. [iii], [4]-[16], 231, [i], 34, [iv, blank] pp. Small 8vo (10 x 16 cm.). Contemporary marbled boards, spine richly gilt decorated (top of spine slightly damaged; hingles slightly worn but firm; gilt decoration somewhat worn). Title printed in red and black. ¶ The very rare first edition, and all that have been published. Some attribute this work to Haller, but the preface is dated 1743, and signed C.B. It seems that some copies have a second title- page bound between the preface and the text, reading "Vol. I" and with the date 1744. Almost daily Boerhaave gave consulations to all countries of Europe, and his letters were often preserved as treasures. The present work is a collection of 52 questions to Boerhaave with his answers. The names of the correspondents are, unfortunately, not mentioned. Lindeboom 575.

A nice copy of the first edition of both works. There are 4 later editions, the last in 1805. The author, "ancien chirurgien-major de la Marine" was a great advocate of catheterisation. Contemporary brown calf (top and bottom of spine slightly damaged; upper edge of the front side slightly rubbed; corners a bit bumped), Spine in compartments gilt decorated and lettered; speckled edges. Seme wood-engraved head and tail pieces. With a contemporary engraved bookplate of Ludovicus Feuilherade M.D. ¶ Apparently the ONLY copy known of this 1686 Johannem Certe edition. The official "Editio secunda" was published by Certe in 1687. Presumably the 1686 edition was printed at the occasion of Tencke's inauguration at Montpellier in 1686, but the printer overlooked to print the King's approbation within this 1686 edition. Certe has to cancel the edition and released a little bid later (1687) the correct edition with the approbation. The 1686 editions: Montpellier Peronnel & Venice de Rhinetta, are pirate editions. "In this book, real life photos are used to help young people feel more comfortable with interacting with other children and making new friends. A Note From Fred Rogers: A child's first visit with a pediatrician usually comes soon after birth. It may be months or even years later, though, that a child first shows fear about going to see a doctor. The worry of an injection or some other unfamiliar medical procedure can trigger that fear. It can also appear because another family member may be feeling medical anxieties.
