Consulting I Ching Smoking Pot Listening to the Fugs Sing Blake by Ginsberg, Allen - 1967

Pleasant Valley, NY: Kriya Press, 1967. Limited First Edition. Single Sheet. Fair. An illustrated broadside (13"x18") featuring a short poem by Allen Ginsberg, composed under the influence as indicated in the title, in June 1966. Ginsberg was in full hippie bloom a decade after his groundbreaking arrival on the scene as one of the most important members of the original Beat Generation. Issued by the Kriya Press of Sri Ram Ashrama in a limited edition of 100 copies. This copy is not numbered. At the upper left corner, in cursive blue ink, is the signature of Bob Wilson, along with the name of his Phoenix Bookstore in New York City, its address, telephone number (beginning with two letters in the old-fashioned manner, dating the writing to when this item was published) & hours of operation. Wilson & his Phoenix Bookshop were legendary, he created a renowned community of poetry at the long-gone venue. A very unique copy of this Ginsberg rarity, with important association-provenance. Unfortunately in only fair condition, thus offered for a relatively low price despite its rarity & significance. With soiling & spotting on surface, esp. edges & corners; small creases & chips at top edge; small bump-creases at corners; residual masking tape across middle of top edge, more complete at lower edge, neither effecting text or illustration & possibly removable by a skilled conservator. Currently mounted on stiff board in protective shrinkwrap. Will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube.
