Paris: Michel Levy Freres, c1850. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 7" by 4.5". None. A collection of short stories by Alphonse Karr. In original French. Alphone Karr was a French critic, journalist and novelist. He became a teacher at his old school, College Bourbon. Some of his novels were autobiographical romances. His short story Les Willis (136pp) was the basis of Giacomo Puccini's opera Le Villi. In a half calf binding with gilt stamped detailing to spine. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with spotting to the first and last few pages. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
