Collation, [8],796pp, 714pp, 30pp, index, 53 plates, including 19 folding maps, [ lacking map of North America ]. Bound in full calf, each volume expertly rebacked, retaining the period boards, raised bands, leather title labels.Calf very light rubbed, minor wear on edges. Both bindings in very good clean firm condition. Internally, pages and plates in very good clean condition throughout. A very nice clean set, in very attractive bindings. These volumes are the continuation of Rapin's History of England. . Second Edition. Full Period Calf. Very Good Plus. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.

Complete with its full complement of plates: the first two volumes containing 42 portraits ("Heads") and 22 plates of Tombs ("Monuments"), as listed plus 6 maps and 12 genealogical tables. The three volumes of the Continuation with 12 portraits, 32 plates of medals, 5 seals, 14 maps (map of France loosely inserted, supplied from a taller copy), 6 sea charts and 52 plates of Battles and Cities. Bindings rubbed, three joints cracked but still holding firm, contents generally very good. Third edition of the first two volumes, first edition of the last three.
