Laid-in are also 2 letters addressed to Mr.Thygesen, also SIGNED by Sawyer. One of the letters includes a personal handwritten postcript to Mr. Thygesen, and a list of page references in the 2 volumes for Mr. Thygesen to look-up. A warm asscociation copy with 2 interesting associated letters. One of the letters is partially darkened (but clearly readable) by offsetting of a newpaper clipping which is also laid-in.

Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. The authors forthrightly recount their feelings of loneliness and isolation, and their frightening experiences with secret societies and witchcraft, but their uniquely optimistic "can-do" American attitude brought most through a great life experience.
