Preface by Eckermann, Introduction by Wallace Wood, in 397 pages with Index. Eckermann's best-known work, providing intimate details of Goethe's later life from the perspective of his longtime friend, editor, & archivist. Orig. published in 1836, this is a 1901 edition. Burgundy cloth-covered boards, black title circle surrounded in gilt on spine. Condition is VG- (minus): generally very clean, with light tanning around page edges. Former owner's name & old prices on ffep. Both hinges are cracked; text block secure. Minor rubbing to extremities. No DJ, as issued (never came with one).
