Corners and spine ends bumped but all intact. Cut edges and endpapers clean. Title page slightly pulled from hinge, small tear, binding otherwise solid. Lightly age yellowed clean text block. Fine b/w plates including frontispiece. Shelf wear and tear to pictorial jacket.

Jacket rubbed, with short tears at head, minor dustsoiling: Good or better.

The first chapter is devoted to the slave trade from Elizabethan times to mid-19th century and very informative. But for the tanning would have rated this Fine. A little bonus is a slipped in publishers bookmark (' Nautical Publishers since 1860') with selected list of books on sail and verso headed 'Abstract Log', 'Log Your Notes on thiis Bookmark' plus small ill. of 3 mast sailing ship. 19 cm x 25 cm
