Very large, sturdy book, textured covers in purple, very bright gilt locomotive illustrated at bottom front right, very bright gilt lettering on spine, 175 heavy glossy pages, profusely illustrated, text in double-column format, a Foreword by Senator E. L. Bartlett, a map in early pages. DJ glossy beneath mylar with purple border like an arch on front, a photograph of crowd around men about to drive in spike, three photos at middle back in orange and black frame. On title page signed "Lone E. Janson." DJ has 1/8" tear at top front edge, a microtear at spine top edge. Near Fine DJ/Very Fine book.
