Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1852. First. Cloth. First edition. Green cloth tooled in blindstamp and decorated in gilt with a design of two fisherman at a tavern table; spine lettering gilt; 168 pps. with geographical appendix and section of printed music to which the included aires can be sung. Scarce collection of country folk ballads from Scotland and England about fishing. Extensive preface and introductory material for each of the included songs. Very good or a bit better, gilt reasonably bright, light edge wear and light spine fade.
