Article, also, contains four in-text engravings, one is a map 2 7/8" x 4 1/2" caption stating part of the north shore of Tahiti. -----All issues bound together. This volume also contains articles by: B. A. Gould, Jr., Elias Loomis, T. S. Hunt and others. The periodical was considered the most important nineteenth century American scientific journal (see Lomazow pg. 58, Mott 302-305). ----- Edited by Benjamin Silliman and Benjamin Silliman, Jr. Engravings.
