Edition limited to 200 copies "for members and friends," 4to, pp. [2], iv, 69, [1]; illustrated throughout in color and black & white; original pictorial wrappers; fine. Published in celebration of Ampersand's 90th anniversary, this is a brief pictorial history of Ampersand invitations, from the earliest ones in manuscript, through to mimeograph, and later, letterpress, the invitations have become slightly famous for innovative design and beauty. Since the early 1980s they have been almost entirely printed by letterpress by such printers as Emerson Wulling, Phil Gallo, Gerry Lange, Michael Tarachow, Norm Fritzberg, Gaylord Schanilec, Richard Stevens, and many others, including even myself and Russell Maret.
