About This Item

DeKalb, Illinois: DeKalb Agricultural Association, Inc., [1959]. Approximately 8" x 5" binder with corporate logo to front. Approximately 150pp. Stiffened leather wraps over metal snap ring binder assembly. Gilt logo design to front. Generously color illustrated. Interior binder separated from outer wraps. Else clean. About very good.

An illustrated salesman's pitch binder carried by an agent of the DeKalb seed corn company. The volume opens innocently enough with boldly lettered sales pitches on increased yields, drought resistance, etc... though takes an unmistakably phallus-obsessed turn in its 50pp.-plus illustrated section on the firm's available seed varieties, each with about a page of descriptive text and a succint heading with terms like: "Great Workhorse" : "Pour-it-On" ; "Real Comer" ; "Big Producer" ; "Pours it Out" ; etc...

Numerous page scans shown here. An uncommon, intriguing, and curious production. Presented without additional comment.
