Endpapers and blanks renewed. Written in 1814 this verse tells the story of love and adventure. It follows the story of Conrad a privateer. Byron writes about love, lust and adventure. It is a story of high drama. When published this work was an immediate success and has gone on to inspire operas, music, art and ballets. Inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy Byron draws the reader in. He creates a likable character in Conrad who develops throughout the narrative. Byron focuses on ideas surrounding the outcast and so doing so he goes on to explore issues surrounding social acceptance in relation to class. Rebound in modern cloth. Externally very smart. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
