Nendeln, Liechtenstein: Kraus Reprint, a Division of Kraus-Thompson Organization Limited, 1970 The original works were published between 1915 and 1929 by the Milanese firm of Ulrico Hoepli. Hard cover, folio (7 ½ x 11 ¼ inches), in red buckram with titles in gilt to spines, 719, 646 ,368, and 325 pp. In Italian, with numerous full page black and white reproductions. Printed in Germany. A reprint of the well-illustrated cultural survey of social life, customs and artistic output of the second half of the Italian Quattrocento, produced under the auspices of Lodovico Maria Sforza (1452-1508), Duke of Milan, Lord of Genoa, and one of the Italian Renaissance's great patrons of the Arts. Each volume includes an index of names as well as an index of illustrations. Art historian Francesco Malaguzzi Valeri ( 1867-1928) wrote this work while Director of the State Archives of Milan and, later, while Director of the National Art Gallery of Bologna. Condition: Near Fine, tight clean and bright, with one very minor blemish to one cover, ghost of a 1/4 inch sticker to one corner of each pastedown. No writing within. A very nice set.
