Tan cloth with orange/green/black/brown titles and illustration. Light wear at extremities. Prev owner's label in front end paper dated 1900. 358 pages. Illustrated by Orson Lowell, with the exception of the first story, the illustrations for which are by Gustav Verbeek. Short story collection by renowned American newspaper editor, politician, author, and leader of the Progressive movement. Between 1896 and his death, White became the iconic spokesman for middle America.
