Neat gift inscription on ffep "Christmas 1956 // Uncle Ben - / Hope this brings you / many happy memories." // Pat and Julie". Charles Edward Courtney (1849 1920) was an American rower and rowing coach from Union Springs, New York. Courtney was a nationally known amateur rower, who never lost a race as an amateur and finished a total of 88 victories. After short career in professional rowing, Courtney became involved in coaching at Cornell University. He coached Cornell's rowing team from 1883 to 1920. His crews won 14 of 24 varsity eight-oar titles at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta. The author Charles Van Patten Young was Professor of Physical Education and Athletics at Cornell from 1905 until 1944, and then Professor Emeritus until his death in 1960. ; Signed by Notable Personage, Related .

Over those many years we have taken great pleasure from satisfying our customers' eclectic literary requirements in the shop and hope to continue in that tradition now that we have moved our operation on-line.Currently, our catalogued inventory includes about 4,000 books from the sixteenth century through the twentieth century in a variety of subject areas.
