[Richmond]: [Allen & Ginter], 1888. 8vo, 21x15cm, [17] leaves. Vignette, color chromolithograph illustrations of flags. Leaves are stitched and reinforced with later red tape around edges. Very good condition with some toning and soiling, binding holding but loose. Originally issued as a series of cigarette cards, this beautifully chromolithographed booklet collects the whole series and was likely was given out around the same time as an additional promotional item.

This, an interesting specimen, contains 17 of the original 22 leaves of the booklet titled "Flags of all nations and flags of the states and territories of the United States of America." Perhaps put together by a student, the pages are somewhat haphazard in order and contain some of each, nations, states, and territories, in all, over 130 flags. The booklet is constructed so as the first page looks like a front wrapper, but is likely a title page in the original format. The final leaf, verso, credits George Harris & Sons of Philadelphia for the lithography.

A nice piece of tobacciana from the company credited with issuing the first collectible cigarette cards in the United States.
