About This Item

Toronto: Macmillan of Canada, 1987. Book. Illus. by Peter Swan;. Very Good+. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. 8vo. 266 pp. Signed on the front free endpaper by Jack Batten. Pink boards lettered in gilt on the spine; headband. Light edge and corner wear on the dustjacket; no tears; aside from the author's signature, no interior markings. Dj art by Peter Swan. Crang is a criminal lawyer. He loves jazz, old movies, Polish vodka, his Volkswagen convertible, and his girlfriend, not necessarily in that order... A wise-cracking guy with a moral code that owes little to the Law Society, Crang is equally quick with his lip and his fists, but he can tell a fish fork from a pair of brass knuckles when he has to. His clients are mostly street punks, two-bit robbers, and small-time scum artists, and usually guilty. Mostly he gets them off, and they're grateful. So when a seriously rich man comes to him claiming that he want the lawyer to investigate one of his businesses because it is just too profitable, Crang is puzzled. He also takes the case, and finds fraud, muscle, kickbacks... and murder..
