Octavo, original mauve pictorial bevel-edged cloth stamped in black and gilt. pp (2), xviii, 387, (1), (26, Belford catalogue) + frontispiece with tissue guard and 8 plates and one folding map; other illustrations in text. Spine sunned to tan, as usual, with frayed tips, partial vertical cloth crack neatly repaired; covers have some fading and spotting; moderate wear to outer corners; cracked rear inner hinge neatly repaired; text paper toned, as always; else a good, tight copy, text quite clean and unworn, no owner names, of this important early oceanography book.Canary Islands, St. Thomas and Bermuda, Halifax, NS., islands of the Atlantic, Cape of Good Hope, Antarctica, Melbourne, Sydney, Wellington, N.Z., Fiji, New Hebrides, Cape York Peninsula, East Indies, Philippines, Hong Kong, New Guinea, Admiralty Islands, Yokohama, Hawaii, South America, Cape Verde, and more. We specialize in literary books, particularly Canadian literary books (we have handled more out of print and rare Canadian literary books than anyone else in history). We also have select out of print, scarce, and rare books in a variety of subject areas. We were founded in 1974. We do appraisals for a fee and welcome wants lists.
