[New York]: Harper & Brothers, [1951]. 52 pages. Original cloth. [23.3 cm.] Spine a little sunned, but a very good or better copy with clean interior, in good plus dust jacket. Jacket has a few short tears; light wear to head of spine panel, with minimal loss, not affecting lettering; sun-fading to spine panel; and some moderate foxing to front and rear panels. Apparent first edition. [Not stated, as per the publisher's custom, but also lacking the usual date code and any statement of later printings. The book and the other two in the series are rather scarce and it seems improbable that additional printings were anticipated or required. The jacket is priced at $1.75 on the front flap. The rear flap of the jacket mentions the preceding volume in the series, but not the sequel, issued in 1952.] PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR WITH ORIGINAL DRAWING, on front free endpaper. Inscription reads, "For Wendy, with all good wishes, Charles Norman." The drawing depicts a vase of flowers. A children's book illustrated with numerous drawings. Charles Norman was "a poet and the author of biographies of E. E. Cummings, Ezra Pound and other literary figures ... [He] also wrote many works for young readers, notably a series of books about a quirky family called the Jonquils. `Mr. Upstairs and Mr. Downstairs' (1950) was the first in the series, followed by `The Crumb That Walked' (1951) and `Hunch, Munch and Crunch' (1952)." --N.Y. Times, Arts, Sept. 14, 1996 (obituary).
