New York: Harper and Brothers, Publishers, 1952. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($3.00), generally toned and rubbed, a few creases and tears, foxed throughout the back panel. Quarter blue and grey boards, rubbed and stained at the bottom edge. Square and firmly bound, toned at the top edge and endpapers, address label on the front endpaper, clean otherwise. The third and final novel written by John Horne Burns, this is an affair novel about a concert pianist and a girl "with a sordid past, lovely, greedy, sensual, and shrewd with the shrewdness of those who have had always to fend for themselves.
