New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1952. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Very Good-. 8vo. Pp. [1-2], 3-276. Bound in dark blue half-cloth over gray cloth boards, gilt lettering stamped on spine. A trifle wear to extremities. In the illustrated dust jacket, price-clipped, that has shallow chips and wear to edges, spine a bit faded. Please see photos. According to a New York Times review at the time of publication, the novel's power "owes its degree of power to the author's "ability to write exquisitely-observed mot-filled prose which lends a stylish quality to every incident ... ." The dust jacket presentes a mixed-bag of polychromatic brick wall with a photo inset of clasping hands. Dust jacket now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
