Description:
New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1941. 8vo, pp. 305. Original blue boards, lettered in black to spine. Leading edge uncut. Illustrated dust jacket. Lightening to board edges, but a near fine copy in a very good dust jacket with some light general edgewear, and a little tape reinforcement to reverse at front fold. First edition of the author's third book. A Carl Wayward title. Lawrence Goldstone [1903-1998] was a lawyer, prolific crime novelist and co-founder of the Mystery Writers of America. Although Goldstone himself dismissed the notion, he is often credited as having pioneered the police procedural genre of detective novels. A very well preserved copy in the scarce dust jacket. HUBIN, p. 407
