Pergrin, Commander, 291st Engineer Combat Battalion, to whom the book is dedicated, once on his black-&-white photo, and again on the dedication page where it is inscribed to the book's original owner, Frank R. Braden Jr. M.D. who served as the battalion's Medical Officer. Dr. Braden's decorative bookplate is attached to the front endpaper verso and his personal embossing appears on the dedication page. Straight, tight and clean, faint spotting to top edge of text block, slight spine-end and corner wear. Dustjacket unclipped bearing original price, tiny corner and edge bumps, in new Brodart sleeve. The definitive account of the participation of the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion at the Battle of the Bulge compiled by the famous Kentucky author from accounts given by her husband, fellow author Henry Giles, and other members of the Battalion who took part.
