Hicksville NY, Exposition Press, 1979, hardcover, vii-374 pp, First Edition stated, Signed and inscribed by the Author to the previous owner (named) on the front endpaper, Good in Fair dustjacket. Straight, tight and clean, spots of white paint to top edge of boards. Dustjacket unclipped bearing original price, chips, rubs, closed tears and wrinkles in new, Brodart sleeve. The life story of a hero in the struggle for independence for Northern Ireland who was executed by firing squad in 1922 for his actions including the smuggling of a cargo of guns and ammunition into Howth. Appended: Notes, Bibliography and Index. Laid-in are three pieces of ephemera: A photocopy of the announcement of the book's original 1979 release, A newspaper clipping containing excerpts from Mr. Childers' speech from the Dock before facing a Free State Firing Squad, and a captioned newspaper photo clipping of Childers' boat, the "Asgard" which was used in the gun-running incident, being hoisted by crane into the grounds of Kilmainham Jail, Dublin, now a museum, where it was placed on exhibit in 1979.
