Pp. 104(last blank), frontispiece portrait; demy 8vo; black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, top fore-corner of upper board a trifle bruised; dust wrapper, slightly soiled, edges a trifle creased, the backstrip lightly browned; book label of David Levine, Sydney, on upper pastedown, the free endpapers slightly offset, outer leaves and edges lightly foxed; The Falcon Press, London, 1951. First edition. *Dancer's End comprises poems written in Australia, shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War. Before he became a politician, Enoch Powell (1912-1998) was a classical scholar, author, linguist, philologist and poet . In 1937, aged 25, he was appointed Professor of Greek at the University of Sydney, where his students included the future Prime Minister of Australia Gough Whitlam. The poems in The Wedding Gift were all written in the summer of 1950.
