New York: Random House, 1934. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good. First edition. 270 pp. Original gray cloth with black spine and gold band lettered in black, pink topstain. Near Fine with a bit of chipping to gold along edges, bookplate on paste down. In slightly toned and shelf worn dust jacket with a few tape reinforcements on verso, unclipped and Very Good.
A nice copy of the author's first book. The titular story was the author's breakout work, about a starving young writer in the midst of the Great Depression, first published in Whit Burnett's Story magazine.
