About This Item

Perth, Carlisle: Hesperian Press, 1992. 1st ed.. Paperback small trade, very good condition, maps, black & white text-photos, minor edgewear, spine slightly faded, small mark top edge, crease top corner rear cover little creased, minor edgewear. 177 pp. Ron Brown takes a slightly irreverent look at the human face of Darwin from 1939 to 1945 during WW2. These vital years included 68 air raids. Those who died are honoured, as are those who survived. The author uses his police and personal diaries and memories and includes information gathered from friends and colleagues to write this fascinating book. The primary author was one of the best known Territory policemen and his first hand story of life in Darwin before and during the air raids records a way of life almost forgotten. .
