Demy 8vo; original red cloth, lettered in gilt on spine, and in black on upper cover; pp. xxxvi + 308, incl. index; plates; folding map. Cloth rather worn, stippled, and sunned on spine; small, penned accession code, and bookplate of Neville Jones to front pastedown; rather foxed; binding slack, with archival tape reinforcing between two gatherings; some plates working loose, but holding. Fair. (Work, p. 186; Tenri Africana 3246) The pictorial bookplate of Neville Jones is listed on page 46 of 'South African Bookplates from the Percival J. G. Bishop Collection'.
