London: Cassell and Company, 1945. [World War II] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (22 x 15cm), pp.xi; [1]; 327; [1]. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt titles to spine, in typographic dust-jacket priced at 12/6. Illustrated with three half-tone plates. Contents very clean, jacket a little rubbed, a touch of wear to crown. Near fine. The fifth volume of Churchill's wartime speeches, covering the pivotal year of 1944, which saw the Allies advance on Rome following victories at Anzio and Monte Cassino, and the decisive D-Day landings at Normandy, being the catalyst for the liberation of German-occupied France.
