About This Item

New York: Walker and Company, 1995. BH4 - A first US edition hardcover book SIGNED by author and inscribed to Otto (Otto Penzler) on the title page in very good condition in very good dust jacket that is mylar protected. Dust jacket has some wrinkling on the edges, top to bottom crease/fold on the back right side, some scattered light scratches and rubbing, light tanning and shelf wear. Book has some bumped corners, wrinkling on the spine edges, small red line on the top page edges, vertical line glue stain on the back endpaper near the hinge, some light discoloration and shelf wear. Although not marked in any way, this copy comes from the personal collection of Otto Penzler, legendary editor and founder of the Mysterious Press, an award-winning icon in the genre. A Jack Donne Mystery. 8.5"x5.75", 200 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. After a career as a Treasury agent, Jack Donne had become a vintner in southern California's wine country. As a job, it wasn't much easier, but it was safer. At least for a while. As the quality of the wines improved, however, and as the prices rose, so did the desire of some to take advantage. Ozzie Cole's label was gaining in popularity, something Cole himself was mostly lacking. No one liked him - certainly not his competitors - and even his family wasn't upset to know he was having trouble... in the form of someone counterfeiting his prized, and increasingly valuable, pinot noir. When he comes to Donne for help, Donne is less than enthusiastic. But when Cole's father is found murdered, and everyone's finger points at Ozzie, Donne looks a little more closely. And when his own father is threatened, Jack Donne gets on with some rather pressing business that has little to do with grapes.. Signed by Author. First US Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
