About This Item
Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1959. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. A tale of a Greek man named Lucanus, who later became St. Luke and whose search for answers to the mysteries of life led him to study medicine, seek out the world of Christ, and pen the third book of the Gospel. First edition, early printing. Save for an inscription on the front free endpaper, this is a clean copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp given the book's age. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true. The boards do have some old tape at the top and bottom edges. The pages and textblock edges are quite brown, and there is also tape residue at the top and bottom edges of both the front and rear free endpapers. Pages 369 through 376 are creased along the bottom corners. Dust jacket is price-clipped and is generally very worn. The jacket is tattered at the upper and lower spine extremes, and the spine itself may be completely torn away, though it is held together by the mylar cover. The flaps are a bit browned, and there is also some adhesive residue on the front flap. The rear flap is also partially torn away from the rest of the jacket. This collectible, good/good, first edition/early printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!
