London: Nelson, 1938. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's pale blue boards with red lettering to the spine and front board. Spine slightly darkened, end-papers offset and foxing to the fore-edge that has crept into the text block in places. Overall VG indeed. In the rare price-clipped VG D/W with a couple of tiny tears and an associated crease to the top edge of the front panel and a couple of closed tears to the front panel neatly repaired on the verso by a former owner. First book. Philip Garve. Roger Bax was one of the pseudonyms used by Paul Winterton, who went on to be a co-founder of the Crime Writers Association in 1953. Uncommon.
