New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1931. 1st edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket (as issued). Near VG hardcover, no dustwrapper. 8vo, [xii]+272pp, grey cloth stamped in blue-green and black. Presumed first printing, elegantly designed and printed by Knopf. Unmarked copy with a vintage lending library label to front pastedown and the original jacket flap copy pasted to the front free endpaper. Front hinge cracked, else a sound copy of this hardboiled masterpiece.
