First printing edition, first issue with: "Published by the Viking Press, Inc in March 1949", with broken type "solid" (p. 11); first-issue dust jacket, with $2.50 printed price present on the front flap, a picture of the author on the back flap, without mention of New York Drama Critics Circle Award for 1949, and with Esther Handler photo credit on rear flap. (Jensen A.IV1a). This attractive dust jacket that is rich in color with light wear to the spine and edges.
A near fine copy in original bright orange cloth with rich, vibrant dust jacket. Some edge and corner wear and very slight chipping to hear of spine. One of the best we've seen. A lovely copy of this Pulitzer Prize winner, a masterpiece of American drama. Octavo. 139 pages.
